The Queensland Parliament was opened ' yesterday by His Excellency Sir Anthony Mus<;rave. In the course of his speech His Excellency referred to 2s ew Guinea and the Pacific Islands, saying that he believed that a firm and united expression of opinion on the part of the colonies would lead to the annexation of those islands. Reference was made to the satisfactory condition of the colonial finances, and a number of Bills of local importance were promised. In the Legislative Council to-day the address in reply was adopted. In the Assembly this evening the Hon. W. S. Griffith gave notice that he would, on Tuesday next, propose a direct vote of want of cenhdence in the present Government. Melbourne. Nov 9. Unpropitious weather for the holiday was experienced here to-day, heavy rain having fallen during several hours. The positiou of the steamer Rodondo is unchanged. The pumping commenced last night, but with little succees, and the salvage of the vessel and cargo is doubtful. Markets — Wheat depressed, shipping J parcels, 4-* 3d ; malting barley, 4s 8d to os 6d, quotations are nominal ; New Zealand eats, quiet, feeding sorts, 2s lOd to 3s ld ; milling sorts, 3s ld to 3s 2d. At their wool sale this week. Messrs | Goldsborough and Co sold 4500 bales ; greasy merino brought up tol4d ; secure prices to 18£d.
