The Picnic

The Annual Wesleyaa Pienic was held I yesterday on !he picturesque grounds of j Mr Reason's Mangaone estate, and was well patronised, visitors attending from various parts of the district. Although ! under the auspices of the Feilding Wes-l'-y:in Church and congregfttion, it was hy uo mean* confined in its patronage to that body, as all the other denominations ! in ynd around the township were represented. A cold collation aad a tea were provided for the numerous visitors, and the viands were various, ample, and of excellent quality, the latter fact being abundantly proved by the full justice that was done to them. The Feildiug Brass Band, under the able leadership of Mr Daw, played selections at short intervals during the day, their performances being highly creditable to them, and much appreciated by all present, the style in which they played the grace to the tune of the Old Hundreth being specially admired. Most of the well known out-door games and amusements were engaged in, we will not say by old and young, for age was evidently forgotten, and all were young for the nonce. From what we observed we should say there was not one that did not enjoy himself to his heart's content ; and the promoters are cprtainly to be congratulated on being able, aided as they were by favorable weather, to make the affair altogether a success.
