See New Zealand Stud Book for full pedigree. , Papapa is a dark chestnut, standing 15 hands 3 indies high, with great length, substance, and quality, and was one of the fastest horses that ever raced in New Zealand. At the Christchurch meeting in 1873 he ran second tc the celebrated Lurline in the Canterbury Cup, 2f miles, in 4m. Bs., carrying 7st. 2lbs., as a three-year-old. Lurline, 4yrs., ; Bst. f-lbs.; Tambourini, 9st. 6lbs. ; j Malvina, Bst. 9lbs. ; and Templefon, 7st. j 2lbs., also ran. Papapa won the Christ- j church i >erby in 2m. 44£s. beating Castaway (own brother to Lurline), Ter- J pleton, and 1 raitor. At Auckland won j the Auckland Turf Club Cup, with 7st. i 81bR., 2 miles, in 3m. 455. Yatterina, 7st. 121b5., second. Parawanui, Hatred, and Black Eagle also ran. Papapa also j walked over for the Railway Stakes, and j won the Thames Plate, 7st. 51b5.,2 miles, j in 3m. 555., beating Hatred, 9st. 7lbs. Stud Book. j Diomcdes won the Wanganui Welter] Weisiht-for-age Hurdle Race, beating R.fotin, New Qear, Dhudeen, aud several oilier celebrated horses. He also won the Turakina Handicap Hurdle Race, beating a large field. He also ran a j good third f.*r the Wanganui Grand National Steeplechase, carrying I2st. 71bs., giving the winner, Ruahme, l3t. 51 hs., and the second horse, Dhudeen, 2st. Slbs. , thereby showing that he is a weightcarrier, and has exceptionally good st yine power. Dioinedes was also awarded first prize at the Wanganui A. and P. Association Show as a sire best, calculated to improve the breed of saddle horses. Teems : Single mares, £4, ; two or more the bona fide property of one owner, £_ 10s each.
