That Splendid and Powerful Clydesdale Horse, GENEEAL HAVELOCK. /"1 ENEEAL HAVELOCK is a dark \JT brown horse, rising five years old, and stands 17 hands high, with immense muscular power, sp!endid action, and a good temper, and is pronounced by competent judges to he the best draught; horse ever bred in the province of Marlborough. General Huvelock is out of the Clydesdale mare Maggie by Taieri. Taieri was bred by Donaid Grant, E^q., Kirklands, West Taieri, and is out of the Clydesdale mare Gentle by Comet. General Havelock's clam was shown in 1878 at the Marl borough Agricultural Society's Show and took first prize against all comers. General Jlavelock will be at the undermentioned places: — Awahuri and Feilding on .Mondays, Sandon on Tuesdays, Oampbclltown and Foxton on Thursdays, and at Taouui street, Palmerston North on aturdays. At the Christchurch meeting in 1873 he ran second to the celebrated Lurline in the Canterbury Cup, 2? miles, in 4m. Bs., carrying 7st. 2lbs., as a three-year-old^ Lurline, 4yrs., Bst. Wbs. ; Tambourini, 9st. 6lbs. ; Malvina, Bst. 9lbs; ; and Templeton, 7st. 2lbs., also ran. Papapa won the Christchurch Derby in 2m. 44|s.'' beating Castaway (own brother to Lurline), Templeton, and Traitor. At Auckland won the Auckland Turf Club Cup, with 7st. Blbs., 2 miles, in 3m. 455. Yatterina, 7st. 121b5., second. Parawanui, Hatred, . and Black Eagle also ran. Papapa also walked over for the Bail way ' Stakes', and won the Thames Plate, 7st. slbs./2'miles| in 3m. 555., beating Hatred, 9st.7lbs. Terms. — Single mare, „£5 55. ; two or more, as per agreement.
