Kiwitea Road Board.
A meeting of this Board was held at the offices of the Manchester Road Board yesterday Present — Messrs Taylor (Chairman), Williamson, Bryce, and Davis. The minutes of the previous meeting were re.-.d and confirmed. The Secretary explained matters in relation to the postponment of the case against the Wanganui Harbor Board for rates, and the Board approved of what had been done. The following correspondence was then read : — Letter from the Secretary to the Treasury, enclosing a statement showing the monies at the credit of the Board on Ist Sap tern her to be £34 4s 2d, and stating that this money would be available on the plans of the road 3, in the construction of which it is proposed to expend it, having been approved of by the "Waste Land Board of the district. Letter from the Chairman of the County Council in re the completion of Mackay's Line, and stating that at the next meeting of the Council a resolution authorising tenders to be c&Ued would probablj be passed. Letter from Charles Hunt asking C. A. W. Hunt's name to be substituted for his on the rate roll for sections Nf>. 43 and 44, on the Fohangina Block. Letter from Stephen and M. A. Williamson asking their names to be put on the rate roll for section No. 298, Waituna. The following accounts were passed: — Goodbehere, £5 4s 2d ; Kirkbride, £1 2s 6d. . The alterations in the rate book required in the letters as above were directed to be made. Mr Williamson proposed, and the Chairman seconded, That the money referred to by the Treasury be allowed to stand. — Carried. There was some conversation as to the legality of pitying £12, half the cost of obtaining a title to land for certain devU ations in Mnckay's Line. Letters were rciu) from the owners of sections, consenting to thoir land being taken for the dovintions, on payment being made for the samo. The Chairman proposed, and Mr Daries seoonded, That the offer of the Council be accepted, and the Secretary . take the necossary steps to obtain titles for the land taken from the owners of sections Mo. 184 and 186.— Carried. Mr Williamson proposed, and Mr Faylor seoonded, That as soon as the Seoretary hears from Wellington as to khe allocation of monies to the Board, he jail a special meeting of the Board, in >rder that the poll of the ratepayers be " aken as soon as possible, and the necessary steps be taken for striking a special •ate. — -Carried. The Board then adjourned.
