That Splendid and Powerful Clydesdale Horse, GENERAL HAVELOCK. f lENERAL HAVELOCK is a dark \JT brown horse, rising five }*ears old, i and stands 17 hands high, with immense muscular power, spiendid action, and a good temper, and is pronounced by competent judges to be the best draught horse ever bred in the province of Marlborough. General Havelock is out of the Clydesdale mare Maggie by Taieri. Taieri was bred by Donald Grant, Esq., Kirklands, West Taieri, and is out of the Clydesdale mare Gentle by Comet. General Havelock's dam was shown in 1878 at the Marlborough Agricultural Society's rthow and took h'rst prize against all coiners. General Havelock will be at the undermentioned places: — Awahuri and FeiJding on Mondays, Sandon on Tuesdays, Campbelltown and Foxton on Thursdays, and at Taonui street, Palmerston North on aturdays. Pafapa is a dark chestnut, standing 15 hands 3 inches high, with ereat length, substance, and quality, and was one of the fastest horses that ever raced in New Zealand. At the Christchurch meeting in 1873 he ran second tc the celebrated Lurline in the Canterbury Cup, 2? miles, in 4m. Bs., carrying 7st. 2lbs., as a three-year-old. Lurline, 4yrs., Bst. vlbs.; Tambourini, 9st. 6lbs. ; Malrina, Bst. 9lbs. ; and Templelon. 7st. 21 bs., also ran. Papapa won the Christchurch J ! erby in 2m. 44:$s. beating Castaway (own brother to Lurline), Templeton, and (raitor. At Auckland won the Auckland Turf dub Cup, with 7st. 81 bs., 2 miles, in 3m. 455. Yatterina, 7st. 121b5., second. Parawanui, Hatred, and i'lack Eagle also ran. Papapa also walked over for tlu> Eaihvay Stakes, and won the Thames Piate, 75t.*51b5.,2 miles, in 3m. 555., heating Hatred, 9st. 7lbs. Terms. — Single mare, £5 55. ; two or more, as per agreement.
