Cheese and Butter Factory.

The canvassers appointed at the meeting of shareholders on Friday evening, Messrs Amksbuhy and Corpe, made all the necessary arrangements yesterday as regards their tour of the district, and started this morning on their respective journeys. We hope that they will successfully accomplish the object they hope to carry out. Yet we must remember that unless there is exhibited by the settlers a feeling of reciprocity, or a 'lesire to fall into the views of the promoters of the Cheese and Butter Factory, very little may be expected to be done. The small farmers should remember that they are the persons sought to be benefit ted, und it is their duty as well as their interest to assist. They must endeavor to take a broad view of the matter, and put aside, for the time, all those Harrow-minded prejudices that are the invariable foes to the progress of j : the community at large. The Cheese and ' Butter Factory is cot being formed on :

purely philanthropic principles, but on a firm commercial basis of mutual self ] interest. It is formed because it will pay every shareholder, and be a source , o£ profit to every one who is directly or indirectly connected with it. We hive every confidence in the ability and knowledge of the subject, on the part of the canvassers, to make the good that may be derived putent to even the most obtuse, and induce many that have hanged back to become shareholders and firm supporters of the scheme.
