Received October 9. 0.55 a.m. London, October 8. The death is announced of Dr Short, formerly hishop of Adelaide, South Australia, aged 80. Pabis. October 6. Parleying between the French and Chinese Governments, which has been proceeding fnr the past month, has been suspended, the efforts which hare been made at an amicable settlement of the difficulty in connection with the occupation of Annum, having proved fruitless. St. Petersburg, October 6. A revival of Anti-Jewish agitations in this country has occurred, and rioting has taken place in several towns.
