The President made the apology as the king was most indignant nud was preparing to depart immediately. Mad hid, October 1. Much excitement prevails in this city in consequence of the treatment of King Alfonso by the Parisians. Hong Ex>xg, October 2. News is to hand from Canton that a I European named Logan, who shot a I Chinaman in an Affray which took place in that city in August, has been tried for murder, and sentenced to seven years' imprisonment. The Chinese populace have expressed gre;it discontent at the leniency of the court, aud much uueasi- ; ness prevails in the city.
