Special to " Star-" O'DONNELL COMMITTED FOE TIIIAL. THE IRISH CONTENTION. MADAGASCAR AFFAIRS. BEFTEB's TEtBQBAMB. London. Sept. 29. O'Donnell has been committed for j trial for the murder of Carey, at Port Elizabeth. At a meeting to-day of the Irish Conveution now being hold at Leeds, Mr Parnell was elected chief of the Executive. Paris, September 29. Official dispatches from Tonquin state that, since the recent defeat, the "Black Flags " retired from Singkoi, apparently fearing further encounters with French troops. King Alphonso was received to-day by President Grevy, and was hooted by the people along the entire route to the President's Mansion. The French Chambers meet on the 22nd October. St. Petebsbueg, Sept 19. The Russian Government are adopting a conciliatory policy with regard to the present crisis in Bulgaria.
