The Government have ascer- ' tairied 'that the damage ' to the. beacons ■ ' at'Kawkia w'ai the work of a> small lection of a Waikato tribe, aad was at" the disapproval of the'Ngitimamapotos. The Hon. Mr Brjce has left for Wanganui to be present at the funeral of the . late native, chief Mete Kiugi. He will then go, on -to New Plymouth, , and join the Hinemoa, and proceed to Kawhia.
