Manchester Rifles.

♦ This corps paraded at the Town Hall on Tuesday evening last, when all the officers and about thirty rank and file were present. Capt Lethbridge informed the men of the resolution passed by tbe Council at -ts last meeting in regard to a new uniform, and stated that the con- ' firmatton of this resolution being neces- j sary by a majority of the corps, he would I ask those in favor of it to take one pace to the front. The company responded to •a man. Tbe ( aptain expressed his satisfaction, and ordered a meeting of the Council (which was held last night) to take the necessary steps for obtaining the new uniforms. The corps was then marched through the town, to the martial strains of the band, and were drilled smartly on the march. After an hour of sound practical instruction the company was dismissed. At its conclusion Capt. Lethbridge stated that a similar parade would be held overy Tuesday evening, at the same place and hour, when all the men were requested to attend, as an officer of high rank in HM. Service would inspect them at the next general inspection, and it would be only just to themselves that tbey should be made as perfect as possible in their drill. Three cheers were given for the band, and Mr Curreen, tbe bandmaster, certainly deserves high praise for the efficiency of its members. The Council met at the Stab office last evening, when the following members were present — Capt. Lethbridge (in the chair), Sub Lieut. Blackmore, Sergeant .Nicholas (secretary), "ergeant Evans, Corpl. Goodbehere, Volunteers Dawson, Wright and Kirton The minutes of ihe previous meeting were read and confirmed. The business of making arrangements for the company to be clothed with the new uniform was settled. It was resolved that Sergt. Major Henry . be sent for, to take the measures of the men, on Tuesday next.
