MESSES STEVENS & GORTON'S STOCK UK i OK;. Messrs Stevens and Gorton report ■ : — 1 At our sale at Awahnri on the 2lst inst., : 220 head of cattle, 400 slic.-p, and 17 pij, r s | were yarded. The attendance was good j and bidding for all kirds of steers spirited. Female stock were slow of saie, although a goud many lines were placed after tlie ] sale. Tlie prices were as follows:— For- ( ward bullocks, £7 ; 2 to 3-yr steers, £3 j to £3 15s; mixed yearlings, 27s 6d to 35h; 2-J-yr heifers, £2 to £2 os Sheep r mixed ' hoggets, 7s to 7s 6d ; fat sheep, 11s to c 12s 6d. Pigs: weaners, 7s; strong pigs, | 15s to £2. The young entire Javelin was ( offered and the bidding rose to 40 guineas but he was passed in at 80 guineas ; other hacks, £4 to £7. ] ] Wellington, Sept. 22. Ha sell &> o. report current prices as j under :- Hour, £11 to £12; oatmeal, , £13 ; bran, £4 ; pollard, £5 ; potatoes, ; £2 10s to £3 10s ; onions, none in market ; > chaff, £5 to £6; Tartarian seed oats, 2s 9d; ] feed oats 2s to 2s 6d ; fowl wheat, 2s tid ( to 3s 6d ; mhize, 3s 9d to 4s ; beans, 5s ; salt butter, quite unsaleable, 4d to sd ; fresh butter, 9d ; bacon and hams, 9d ; ' Sydney and Fiji fruit, none in market ; apples* 6s toll's per case; poultry, very scarce at high prices.
