The Duke of Cambr dge has approved of the following military appointments made in the Victoria land forces : — Maior Disney, of the Royal Artillery, as Commandant; Captain Fellows, of First Battalion East Surrey Regiment, as Staff Oftieer, of Infantry ; and Major Brownrigg. of Rifle Brigade, as Brigad--- , -..•ajorand Head of the School of In* | struetion. j The f'tur torpedo boats ordered by tho j New Zealaud Government have been | completed aud launched. A trial of them lifts taken {dace at Greenwich, with re>nlts highly successful, over seventeen , knots being run. At the luncheon which '■. followed the trial, there was a large and fashionable company. Received Sept. 22. 0.55 a.m. London. Sept. 21. Mr Gladstone arrived at Gravesend yesterday from his yachting cruise in the Baltic.
