A t our Palmerston stock sale yesterday 8' we had an exeptionally good attendance, p and the vendors are fully satisfied with ! the prices realised. We yarded 148 head " of cattle, and 237 sheep, of which only tt
one small pen of mixed cal tie were nof sold. Owing to the indisposition oF one of our clients, 100 bend that vre had advertised did not come forward. W<quote as follows : -Forward 4 year buttocks, £5 15s to £<3 IOs; 2 to 3 years -teers, £3 8s 6d to £'4 15< ; store cows. t'2 2s 6d to £3 8s ; mixed yearlings (weaners, in low condition), 25s to 275; j-ows in calf, £2 Is to £3 os ; wedder ioggeis, 7s to 7s 3d; tat wedders, 12* 7d; good store wedders, lis 3d ; hacks £2 to £17. The N.Z. Li. M. Company report under date September 6: — Christchubcb:. Byegrass. — Sowing is now proceeding vigorously, and the demand is good f.-r .veil-dressed samples, which command 4s to 4s 3d, but faulty parcels are difficult to quit at over 3s 6d. Cocksfoot. — Some heavy transactions have transpired during the month, both for export and local trade. Parcels of 10, 15, and 25 tons have been taken up at 4jd to 4_l, and buyers are still disposed to operate at the hitter figure. Napi kb. Salea have taken pi. ice dnring the month, at from 2s 9d to 3s p.r bushel, and there is still some enquiry for sj,ring sowing. There is such a quantity uti hand, however, that prices are no; likely to be favourably affected. Wanganui. Potatoes. — Tln-re is strong enquiry for really good potatoes, and prices far beyond our quotations would i.c t,i\eu for good sound samples. Most ..f those now in the market are very inferior. Wl LLINGTON. Owing to the recent adverse reports from London of -tbe present value of coarse wools, the price of skin, per lb lias suffered a decline. There is, however, a good enquiry for all lots offering.
