A party of harvesters who were engaged in getting in crops on some property in the County of Wexford were boycotted by the residents. Subsequently, however, they were supplied with food which proves to have been poisoned. The atrocity was successful, two of the men having died, and others being in a critical state. Telegrams are to hand from China reporting that fifteen thousand Chinese troops have crossed the frontier into Tonquin, and that an outbreak of hostilities with the French forces may be expected shortly. The intelligence has not- yet been confirmed. The Freuch Government have decided that large reinforcements shall be despatched without de^uy to Tonquin. Vienna, September 3. It is announced that a military commander is to be appointed to administer, the Government of Croatia in place of the Ban (Viceroy), who lias hitherto filled the post. Received Sept. 6. 1 a.m.J , London, September 5. The death is announced of diaries Morgan Norwood, who has represented the Hull constituency in the House of Commons since 1865, aged 58. Prince Albert Victor, eldest son of the Prince of Wales, was invested yesterday with the order of the Garter. Telegrams have been received here | reporting that two French war ressels left Noumea for the New Hebrides group, with instructions to protect the interests of the French company trading in those islands.
