Manchester Road Board.

The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held in its office on • Saturday afternoon last. Present — Messrs • Macarthur (chairman), Linton, Bailey and i Cotter. i The minutes of the previous ordinary } meeting were read and confirmed. Lethbridge, Turakina, calling attention to some error* with reference to his name on rate roU, to be corrected to " Lethbridge and Downes." From H. L. Sher*ill, requesting > another name to be, placed on roll for a i certain section instead of his own. 1 The requests of Mr Lethbridge and of [ Mr Sherwill that rate roll be altered were [ acceded to. Permission to Mr Bell, to contract a tramway were granted, subject to usual 3 conditions. i Mr C Bray, junr, resigned his office as clerk and collector to the Board. The chairman explained the arrange- . ment by which Mr Bray, senr, was to resume his former position in connection with the Board, and that was the reason of Mr Bray, junrs, resignation. ' It was resolved that the resignation be accepted, and that Mr Bray, senr., re— r same his former position in connection 1 with the Board. " Resolved that theOroua County Counj cil be requested to nominate Mr F. Y. Lethbridge^as a memberfor No. 1 Ward. Eesolved that tenders be called for • felling a road line at Ashurst. I ihe following tenders were opened and 1 read for the Fitzherbert road east con_ , tract:— \. Falloon, £157; M. Enright, \ £149 12s ; C. Bosenlhorpe, £153 10s; A. i Diamond, £115 ; J. Aitken, £98 15i; J. C. .Nathan, £160 ; J. £. Anderson, and Co., £113 ; Simpson and Lucas, £85. ; It was resolved, on the motion of Mr , Linton, seconded by Mr Bailey, That the i tender of J. Aitken be accepted, at the lowest formal tender. Simpson and Lucas' tender was inform al, being sent in an hour and A half past the proper time, and unhocom- , panied by a deposit. Resolved, That the engineer call tenders for work vnder the Roads and Bridget Construction Act. Respired, That tenders be called for 1 Repairing Rangatawa Bridge. Accounts amounting to £74 6s 4d were > passed for payment.
