As the ten o'clock goods train from Cliaton for Inrercargill was Hearing Wairi.ua last night, John Henderson, the fireman, was shot dead by a man unknown from a bank alongside the line Henderson's wire aud family reside at Invercargili. There is no clue to the murderer. The guard, Duncan, says he saw two flashes. Immediately after the second, deceased threw up his arws, exclaiming *' Oh, Peter !" to Peter Dunn, driver of the engine, and * expired. Those on the train became frightened, extinguished all the lights, and backed the train into Clinton. We'don and two detectives proceeded to Clinton this morning. '
