(PEE UNITED PEESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington This day. Mr Tole moved the second reading of the Juries Act Amendment Bill to abolish grand jurors and provide better pay for common jurors in civil cases. Mr Conoily opposed the Stsie payin_r common jurors in civil cases, but was doubtful as to the expediency of abolishing grand juries. Messrs Fitzgerald, Holmes, Fulton, ''riuible, Joyce and FMi condemned the grand j ury system. Th« Bill wrs read a second time. Mr Seddon moved the second reading of the Eailway and other Employees' Bill, explaining its provisions at length. Mr Johnson opposed it saying instead of providing permanently for workmen in railway shops, he would like to see Government workshops done away with, and the work given to private firms. Me -rs 3rnewen, Joyce, Levestam, White, Grey, Holmes. Feldwick and Harris supported tlie 'ill generally, although severid indicated alterations required in committee. On division second reading was carried by 22 to 14. The House rose at 1.10 a.m.
