Land-slips on the Line.
The heavy fall of rain during the last' few days has caused considerable damage to the railway line, north, and south. There, was a land-slip in the cutting above , "VV^estbe, arid the trains had to exchange ■] passengers there instead of at Halcombe. 1 There was a land-slip at Wangaehu,.and ' the flooded creeks washed away the formation from under the sleepers and metals tor a considerable, distance at; Matarawa. On this being known in town, Mr Hotheram at once proceeded " to : Enstown,- and- took out an engine and train ;to Matarawa, into which the passengers from the train on the other side of the flooded gap were transhipped, and , brought on to A-ramoho. Gangs of men . lire -"now on the line ballasting, and no further delays may be expected. i
