»_ — Special to "Star." BEUTER'S TELEGRAMS. London, July 19. The cargo of frozen meat, consisting of 5,7(59 carcasses, in rha steamship British Queen, from Lyttelton, 31st May, has arrived in excellent condition. A porloin was placed in ihe market to-day, and realised an average of 7d per pound. At the Wimbledon meeting, Sergeant McKay, of the Ist Battalion of the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders was the winner of the Queen's prize with a score of 79 points. Mr Gladstone has announced his intenlion of making on Monday next in the Houee of Commons, a statement as to the course the Government would pursue regarding the agreement with Count de Lesseps for a second Suez canal. The Porte refuses to admit Baron de Lesseps' pretensions concerning the consti uction of a second canal. A death from cliolera has occurred at Alexandria. The evidence given at the trial of the murderers of Mrs Smyth* at Westmeath discloses that an attempt was made to murder five landlords. Fifteen of the prisoners have been remanded. Received July 21. It has transpired that Sir Charles Rivers Wilson, one of the representatives of Great Britain on the Council of the Suez Ca> al >' 'ompany has been despatched by the Cabinet to Paris to confer with Counte de Lesseps with the view of carrying into effect the agreement which was come to on rhe 11th instant for the construction of a sccand Suez Canal. Berlin, J'.ily 19. A meeting is arranged between the German Emperor William and Emperor Francis Joseph of Austria, to take place in Gastein, upper Austria, on the 4th proximo. Paws, July 19. Tricon, who was recently appointed to succeed M. Bourne as French ambassador to China, has announced his arrival at Pekin.
