STAB* Sib, — We have been told 'by-an advertisement in your paper that in consequence of a sufficient number of shares, not hay« ing been taken up, the company, stands a good chance of fallinf* through." I think I am only expressing the opinions of nine-tenths of the pe'eple in .this district when I say that this would be a thousand pities, and a step on the part of the directory which many, in fact most of us farmers, would deeply rggretr. Why couldn't a public meeting be held, and all those who are interested (and their name is legion) be told what has been done, what has been promised, and what might be reasonably expected. Most|likely the deficiency in the number of shareVif any, would be made upon the spot,' and if not, why couldn't a atar,it be made with what hare already been talcenP r^When the buildings have been erected, alid the plant obtained, the company would hare no difficulty in getting an advance, upon them, and by this means keep the lc^ncern moving, and when it has once 'Been put in motion there will be mo scarcity "either of shareholders or cows. The'establishment of the factory is calculated* to do much towards raising the priipe^f property and stock, and the- project ought not to be given up" without even the appeaance of a 'struggle on the part of those who have been depufaft to carry it through.
