♦ (PER UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Chbistchubch, This Day. The discoverers of the alleged goldfield in Canterbury have received a letter from Wellington stating that theGoTernment is prepared to offer a bonus for the discovery of a payable goldfield in Canterbury, on a condition not yet made lmown. With a view to hasten on the matter, a telegram has been sent to Mr Lee, II.M R., requesting him to see if the bonus has been placed on the Estimates ; if so, to ask the Government whether they are prepared to do so at once, and, if so, the prospectors ars prepared to disclose the locality of the field.
