Temperance Beverages.

Some of the so-called "temperance beverages " recently introduced, have, it seems, been submitted to analysis by cartain eminent chemists in order to test the extent of their claim to the title of being really "teetotal" drinks. The celebrated "Good Templar Champagne " is reported to have contained 19| per cent, of proof spirit, being therefore more intoxicating than the strongest malt liquor or as much so as claret and other "light" wines. "Sacramental wine/ represented by "ruby tent," was found to 1 contain 11.2 by weight of absolute alcohol, equal to 24.3 per cent, of proof spirit. Other beverages supposed to be harmless^ al.
