Blue Ribbon Army.
Some few weeks ago Mr Hemus came to this place, and gare a lecture on Temperance, in connection with the Blue Ribbon Army. After the lectaro, several took the ribbon as a mark of opposition to intemperance. Thinking it advisable to organize a society to be based on the principles of the Blue Ribbon A-imy, a meeting was called, and the following ladies and gentlemen were elected :•— President, Rev. J. Clover; Vice-Presi-dent, Mr Lncas; Secretary, Mrs Holmes; Treasurer, Mrs Salisbury. The committee were — Messrs Bowater, Banger, Smith, Stevens, Holmes, Jenkins, Towler, Christenson, Cnrran, Miss Travena and Mrs Watts. The first meeting after the election of officers was held last Thursday in the Temperance Hall. Mr Lncas presided. The meeting was opened by singing " The Life Boat," after which a prayer was offered by Mr Jenkins. A short address was given by Mr Lucas, followed by a choice selection of recitations and singing. Before the meeting terminated several, persons accepted the blue Xi >bon. We have every reason to think this society will be a success, having on the roll the names of about 40 members. The meeting was brought to a close by prayer.
