A Chip of the Old Block.
Among the 2,000 odd people present at the ball in honor of the young Princess at Brisbane was one | rertv, but, looking, as sub-tropical girls often do, somewhat older. With her Prince George struc > up a violent flirtation, and the damsel though a little confused by the unexpected honor, was nothing loth. Everybody was much amused with the progress of the little affair, which was artlessly open and frank ; but the authorities took Prince George in hand and tried to keep him among the staid dignitaries on the dais. Ihe boy, however, was not to be baffled, "and slipped into the crowd, and secured his little partner again. Recaptured, he was brought back to the platform and confronted by an indignant lady, the much-respected daughter of the Governor of the colony who assured him with emphasis: :< lf you do that again I will box your ears." Thfi boy seeing that she evidently meant what she said, did not do it again. — Exchange.
