Messrs John Shaw and Sons, of Mark Lane, London, report through iheir agent Mr Leonard W. Blake, of Christchurch, that the market during the month ending April 19th was at its height. Fine open weather setting in soon after the Easter holidays were over, brought on an active sewing demand ior every description of farm seeds, under the influence of which the small stocks remaining were rapidly diminishing, nnd as imports of foreign clover seeds had ceased, a much firmer feeling had developed itself; in fact, red clover must be quoted 6s, and alsyke 5s to 7s pir cvrt. dearer. Fine rapeseed beiDg scarce and in fair demand, was 2s to 3s qr dt-arer. Canary was quiet at the late advance, and hemp seed was very firm. A substantial rise had occurred in blue pens.
