The fire spread to an adjoining cottage occupied by Mrs Scones and family. Had it not been for a brick wall separating the cottages Mrs Scones and. family would probably have been burnt to death. New Plymouth, This Day. Mr Carkeek and his party arrived at Urenui last uight and have just reached town. Carkeek is annoyed that there should have been an alarm about him, and says if the weather had been fine he should have remained out another week, ihe country the party has been been over is much in the same direction Cheal and Robinson went through some six years ago.
