LONDON SEED TRADE. Messrs John Shaw and Sons of 35, Mark Lane, London, report through their agent, Mr i eonard W. Blake, of Christchurch, that the market during the fortnight ending March 22nd had been fairly attended, and, considering the weather, a ! steady trade had been taken. As regards the prices of all the leading varieties of field seeds, there was no change to be noted. American red clover appears to have been over shipped from the other side, the latest advices stating that the balance left was hardly sufficient for home and Canadian requirements, censequently, higher rates were being cabled from across the Atlantic. Purchases of of all kinds of agricultural seeds, owing to the high prices curreut were naturally made with caution, and the stocks remaining were getting extraordinary small. Turnips were attracting attention. Canary had been in brisk demand at an advance of from 10a to 15s per qr. The imports into the United Kingdom of clover and grass seeds in February were 29,663 cwts, value £157,589, against 64,755 cwts, value £147,646, in February, 1882. Wkllinoton, May 9 Pboducb, &c— Flour. £12: oatmeal, £14 to £14 10s per ton ; wheat, 3s to 4s ; potatoes, £3 15s to £4 per ton ; oats, 2s 6s to 2s 8d ; maize, <ls to 4s 6d ; cheese, 6d ; hams and bacon (Canterbury) 9d to lOd ; country-cured, 6d ; fresh butter, 9d to lOd per lb; salt butter (firstclass), lOd ; eggs. 2s 6d to 2s 9d per dozen ; onions, new, £5 10s to £6 per ton.
