A vessel named the Groffler has been burned at Vancouver's Island, and fifty Chinese lost their lives in her. The A ffirmation Bill was not made in any way a Mm sterial question, and the defeat of the Government upon it is not therefore regarded as a question of confideuce. The majority against it resulted from the knowledge that even if the Bill passed in the Lower House, the Lords would reject it. London, May 6. The Australian section of Fisheries Exhibition, which is shortly to be opened here, is being pushed forward. Various courts are already finally decoroated, and exhibits are being unpacked and arranged without delay. H.R.H. the Prince of Wales will open the new Royal College of Music to-day. Baron de Lesseps asserts that it would be impossible to form a second canal across the Isthmus of Suez. It has been now determined that, if Bradlaugh again attempts in any way to enter the House of Commons, he shall be expelled the precincts. It is probable he will resign his seat.
