Wanganui, This Day. ; On the Courfc resuming this morning the prisoner was brought up and stated that she was pregnant in answer to a question why sentence should not be executed. A jury of 12 matrons was then empannelled. His Honor informed them that their duty was to ascertain the truth of the prisoner's statements. They retired to the outer room, the prisoner in charge of the gaoler's wife. Medical assistance was called in, and after about an hour's deliberation the jury came out and said they had all agreed but one. His Honor remarked that the verdict must be unanimous like other juries. They must retire. Eventnally they agreed and gave a verdict that "To the best of our belief she is quick with child " His Honor said there would be a respite till next criminal sessions in October, when the recommendation to mercy would be communicated to the Governor.
