It originated in Rose street, which leads from Newgate street to St; Paul's churchyard, and it spread with alarming rapidity. Before the progress of the. flames could be arrested; sir build, ings were completely destroyed, including the premises of Messrs, C. Itegan, Paul, and ,Co., and of Mr Kingsbury, the wellknown .publishers; St< Paul's Cathedral was Illuminated' in. a brilliant manner by fire. The fire is now subsiding. :!■ ; . A.depqrture in tactics of the Irish con- j spirators ; is reported. It is stated that as the system of employing dynamite'to effect their purposes has proved -unavailable' the leaders of the Irish .
