The Awalmri Bridge.
! We beg to call the attention of the County authorities to the dangerous condition of the approaches to the Awahnri Bridge ; Certain long-necessary repairs are at present being effected, and in order thai | this may be properly done, portions of the old structure have been removed. A wide gaping hole is thereby made, aud , this is protected by ti large empty case placed near the edge. As there is no light united at or near to show the I danger, the approach to the bridge is | unsafe at night. In the day time the j empty ea-o becomes an object of terror to timid horses. Any vehicle might ! easily be upset, and human lift* endangered or lost. A little ordinary considerlion for the requirements of travellers would avert any possibility of accident, but we presume as (his is "not in the contract," thetv is little chance of it being exeroisod. If any person is unfortunate enough to suffer injury by this culpable neglect, the County will be clearly liable! for hcav}' damages, and the County chairman would find it diflleult to excuse himself to the ratepayers, who would have to bear the brunt of the expense, for the culpable neglect that has delayed the repairs of this "bridge so long.
