Those Roads Again.
TO THE EDITOB OF THB FEILDING STAB. Sib,— lt is all very well for " Beaconsfiuld" to sing out about the state of Mackay's line, but as I do happen to know something about it, I am able to tell him his trouble is nothing in comparison to ours in the Harbor Block. Tn the first place, he has some roads at least, while we have none. And even the road he complains most about is formed and metalled a considerable distance. Then again he and his fellow- .a sufferers have members of certain Highway Boards to fight their battles for them, bufc unfortunately for iisf.w.e hare no Williamsons nor Mcßeth's living out here, and so have to do the best we can without them. While thanking "Beaconsfield" for the comfort he tries to give me, I would remind him that " half a loaf is better than no bread." .He has got his h;ilf a. least, while we are altogether destitute. Nor is it much use our uttoring the Macedonian cry, fori don't see how at present any one can " come over and help us" unless in *' Beaconsfield's balloon express. — I am, &c, Kiwitea.
