[PER UNfTED PEESS ASSOCIATION. J Oast abu, This Day. A farmer named Thomas Richmond was killed to.day at Georgetown. Two wheels of a threshing machine passed over his body. Timaru, This Day. A man named George Brien was thrown from his horse near Sulwater Creek last night, and, his foot getting entangled in the stirrup, he was dragged some distance, and was picked in an insensible condition by a man who was with him. He was conveyed to his home, where he expired this morning. Auckland, This Day. The late Mr Edmond Castley's estate is estimated at £135,000. It is to be divided amongst seven public institutions. Endeavours will be made to get the leeacy duty over £10,000 revoked as the amounts are going to public institutions. He only made his will two nights before his death. Wellington, This Day. Owing to the unavoidable delays that occurred in the delivery by the Property Tax Commissioner of Rolls under " The Rating Act, 1882," to the local bodies, the time for the delivery was extended to the 30th inst. Other extensions of dates &c, are being arranged for by the Government. New Plymouth, This Day. A meeting, at which the Mayor presided, was held last night, when ifc was decided to give a banquet on Mr Bryce's arrival here from the Ring country, and to present him with an illumianted address of congratulation. Chbistchukch, This Day. A meeting this evening resolved to form a company of hundred shares, one pound each, to pay the expenses of sending diamonds to be tested by the best authorities in Europe. Mr A. Kelsey takes them Home. The amount of fire insurance paid in Canterbury during the past 12 months is £46,485, being an increase on the previous year.
