WANGANUI EDUCATION BOARD.
A special meeting of 'the Board was iheld at noon yesterday, for the purpose •ot dealing with the Halcombe School •difficulty, occassioned by the suspension »of the ; teacher, Mr Harris, by the Com- ' imittee. Present — Messrs Watt '(chairman), Sanson, Bridge, Baker and Carson. Mr Fitzherberfc, the Board's solicitor, •was 'in attendance. A large amount of •correspondence was received and read, ifrom Messrs Lash, Tompkins, Harris, :and -the Karere School Committee. -After -considerable discussion, Mr San- • son moved, That Mt Harris be given ■-three months' notice that the Board will mot require Kis services after the 15th -July next.; -that Mr Harris be at once removed from the Halcombe school to ;any other requiring a teacher, the mat■<ter to be arranged between the Inspector *and School Committee ; Mr Harris to be Tpaid his present .rate of salary-, with {house allowance. Mr Baker seconded tthe motion, which was earned unaniTOously. „«_._____
