The Cape Mercury cites the cases of Australia and New Zealand, and calls upon the Government to interfere with the reckless way in which the public lands are being disposed of. It ia a gojd sign that this question is beingtaken up in the early days of the colony's growth, otherwise the colonists will meet with the same difficnlty which is inevitable to all settled countries as soon as the question of land for the people becomes a political cry. — Exchange.
