On leaving Palmerston North for the Wanganui gaol they were cheered by a number of sympathisers, prominent among whom were several wituesses for the ■ rown. The intention of those implicated is to give Peck and Jessop the amount of the fine on coming out of gaol. OiEisTcnußcn, This Day. An order compelling a father to send his son to school was taken out to-day in the Resident* Magistrate's Court by the St. Alban's School Committee. Auckland. This Day. Daniel Scanlon, publican, has been arrested on a charge of perjury in connection with the recent Sunday trading prosecution in Cambridge. Dunedin. This Day. Mr U. Stout will deliver a public address in criticism of Major Atkinson's scheme this week, probably on Thursday; and Mr Fish, M.H.R., will give his speech on tbe same subject probably next Monday evening.
