THE ROADS AND BRIDGES CONSTRUCTION ACT.
A poll will be taken on the 28th instant for or against a special rate in respect of a sum of £22,594 2s 6d, the annual charge on which, to the ratepayers, will be £2033 9s 2d. to be spent in the formation
of the Ashurstand Bunnythorpe. Ulysses, Jones, Makara, Bunnythorpe, Whibloy's, Pobangimi, Mongaone. Junction, Valley and Midland, Wilson's spur and T:ioimi roads. It is understood that the opposition to the raising of this money will be very slight, and when the many advantages that must accrue to the whole of the districts interested are. so patent, it at first glance appears difficult to understand why any opposition at all should be offered. We hope to see those who are in favor of the proposals muster strongly, ancl by their votes prove their desire to promote their own prosperity. To the Borough of Feilding it is impossible to over-estimate the importance of road-making in the adjacent country, because it is only by having ready access to the back country that Feilding can hope to continue its present course of prosperity. Assuming that this amount will be spent in the country districts, and a sum of £6000 in the Borough, and only in public works of marked utility, the township of Feilding must naturally expect a large increase in the population in proportion to the increase on the block generally.
