Edward Shaw, of Wellington, has been retained to defend those charged with illicit distilling at Palmerston N. lie leaves for that district to-night. Dr/NEDix, This Day. Turing the passage of the Waihora, from Greenock to Melbourn , Copeland Jacob died of consumption. A. McDonald, assistant steward, was missed on 11th March. It is supposed he either jumped or fell overbaard during previous night. Auckland, This Day. At the inquest on Edward McMinn, late M.H.R. for Waipa, found dead in his bed on Saturday, medical testimony showed that deceased suffered from some internal lesion — probably r of brain. Verdict: Death from natural causes.
