PRUDENCE IN DANGER.
If the following extract from the Melbourne letter of a contemporary be coirecr, there are a <>oo<l mai.v people who look on the fact of having been in the train when thelate accident occurred as a provideLtial stock oi good luck : — " An eye-witness who arrived at the scene of the mishap within a minute of its occurrence, tells me ot one instance in which he saw a gentleman emerge from one of the carriages of the down train, and walk or! in a fashion which showed him lo he unhurt Pausing, as if struck by a sudtlen inspiration, he surveyed the scene arouud him, and returning' to the spot wbere the wounded occupants of the train were beginning to assemble, deliberately assumed a recumbencpositiou. When assistance came he professed to be unable to move, and groaned loud.y while being placed in a cab to be conveyed to b s private residence- When the proper time arrives it will no doubt be found t hat this 'unfortunate victim ot official bluudering' is suffering from ' loss ol memory,' l severe shock to the system. ' intense nervousness,' or some other of the mysterious symptoms which these accidents are looked upon as causing." — Age.
A boy who had been watching through the k^y-hole the antics of a couple of lovers, ran down to the kitchen to announce his discovery to his mother. *' Oh, its such fun ! ' he exclaimed. " What's such fun ?" gravely asked the old lady. "Why to see sisttr Molly and Mr Fipps play lunatic asylum. '
