FATAL BROWNING CASE.
[PER UNITED PREBS ASSOCIATION.] New Plymouth, This Day. John Rigby, a constable in the A. C. Force, left the White Cliff Camp, yesterday morning, to assist Mr Joshua Jones and. party with their horses round the point on the beach, on their way to Mokau. On nearing the tunnel he rode one of the horses and led the other two. T-ie horse he was riding turned restive while swimming and he was not seen after rounding the point. It is supposed that he was washed off by a wave and drowned. Captain Messenger went with a boat's crew at once to the spot and a (iiver was sent under water without any result. In the evening grappling irons were obtained and the body was re overed in ab ut 8 feet of water, close tv the cliff. Au ,nqxiest will be held today. "
