GOOD FRIDAY.

The Good Templars' picnic to-morrow, to be held on the sports ground, promises to be largely attended. We hope the weather will keep fine for the day, and that every one will thoroughly enjoy themselves. For the first time since the opening of the Wanganui-Manawatu line, the employes on the railway are to hare a common holiday, which will be celebrated by , a picnic at Westoe. Various sports and . games will be indulged in, and it is an* ■■ ticipated that nearly a thousand people young and old will attend. We understand that this holiday is to become a regular institution, and the employes, on this line of railway are to be put on the same footing, in this respect, as those on the South Island railways. Special services will be held in Bt. John's Church on Good Friday, at 11 a.m., and at Halcombe at 7 p.m. The llev. J. Jones will conduct both services. . .
