MANCHESTER HIGHWAY BOARD

A special meeting of this Board was held at its office, Al anchester-strept, on Saturday afternoon, and was called to consider the ways and means of arranging for the £22,000 granted by Government for road, construction under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act, 1882. Present— "Wardens Macarthur, (in the chair), Linton, Bartholomew, Fergusson. 'Bailey, and Loudon. The Chairman reported to the Board his interview with the Minister for Public "Works, with regard to the amount granted, viz., £22,000. Resolved, on the motion of Warden Loudon, seconded by Warden Ba.ley, That the following roads be applied for as main roads:— Jieid's line, from Bunnythorperoad to road. Junction road from Taonui' rail way station to the end. Bunny thorpe and Ashurst road, from the Bunnythorpe station through to Ashurst, thence up the Pohangina to the southern boundary of the Wanganui Harbor Board Block. Spur road, from Pohangma road to Kimbolton road to Halcombe by Mangaone road. Resolved, on the motion of Warden Loudon, seconded by "Warden Macarthur, That the necessary steps be at once taken. Eesolved, on the motion of Warden Loudon, seconded by Warden Fergusson, That the Board advertise the striking of a special rate in the following papers :— Star, Advocate, Times and Standard. The Board then adjourned.
