It is understood that Mete Sing, Futiki, a Wanganui loyal chief, called yesterday upon His Excellency the Governor to welcome him to New Zealand, and to request that His Excellency would attend a large gathering of the Natives at Wanganui during the first week in April, whereat, among other topics, the Treaty of Waitangi will be discussed. A large number of Ngapubi. it was stated, have accepted an invitation to be present, and Natives from the various New Zealand tribes' are expected. It is believed* | that, in the event of the meeting taking I i place, His Excellency will give his answer [ i whether he will attend.
