LONDON SEED TRADE.

Messrs John Shaw, and Sons, of 37 Mark Lane, London, report through men* agent, Mr Leonard W. Blake, of Christchurch, that the market during the fortnight ending January 25th was in a very excited state. As might have been expected the universal shortness of crops and the acknowledged lightness of stocks, were producing their natural effect in enhancing, prices all round. Red clover must be writen fully 3s to 4s dearer, and white cl.>ver from 6s to 8s per cwt dearer at which advance a good many purchases had been made by speculators, the impression being that prices would go a good bit higher ere long. Fine aisyke was from 2s to 3s per cwt dearer, and eboice tretoil Is per cwt dearer. Foreign — Italian was quiet at late rates. Canary although in slow request was firm. Hemp seed was dull.
