The child alleged to be ill- . " treated is a boy of seven and alijalf years old. It is known that for several daya the boy had his arms tied behind This,-: back so that he was unable to inovethem in any way. In that' state he was locked up in an outhouse for several hours at a stretch. During the stepmother's temporary absence some neighbours . fiained an entrance into the housed and the boy, whose position' is -said to sl have '•' been pitiable. He was in a high state of fever, and was suffering from inflamation of one of the lungs.'
