Mr Ben Smith, the well-known architect, formerly of Wellington, while crossing the railway bridge this morning, at Waipawa, was run over by the train and killed. The deceased was seen by the driver to hold on to the girders as the train approached, but while it was passing it is thought he must hare, become giddy and fell forward. Mr Smith was superintending the erection of a large mansion for J. Hardy, Mount Vernon, for which he was architect.
