HARRY POWER'S BENEFIT.

A complimentary farewell entertainment for the benefit of HarryPower and Madlle Lolo de Glorian' was given in the Town Hall on Saturday evening last. Owing probably to other approaching attractions, viz., Mr Forbes' lecture, the flower show, the anniversary, (fee.,' the attendance was far more limited than the merits of the entertainment deserved,, but those present showed their appreciation by frequent applause, and indeed they could not be otherwise than delighted by the efforts that were made for their pleasure and amusement, notwithstanding, the damper necessarily thrown upon the proceedings by the small attendance. The first part of the entertainment was a comedy entitled "Our Mutual Friend." in which Harry Power and Madlle Lolo de Glorian sustained the characters of Bertie and Adelaide Gordon respectively, with their usual well-known ability, while the " mutual friend, Dr Marsden," was impersonated by Mr Dawson in/.a yery creditable manner. Next came a musical interlude in which Miss ' Bell ye ' sang a solo, which was generally. considered to be her best effort before a Feilding audience, and her performance called loudly for an encore. Lolo de Glorian also sang two character songs in capital style. The last item on the programme was an oriental extravaganza entitled " Ihe Happy Man," in which the, two professionals above-named were most ably assisted by our local amateurs, Messrs Dawson, Jackson, Wright, Stevens and Seaton, all of whom read their parts very satisfactorily* The! accompaniment throughout was performed on the pianoforte by Mrs Wright in her usual first-rate style. .. : ■ , ......
