The Feilding Star. SATURDAY, FEB. 10, 1883. A New Clerk Appointed.
We congratulate our fellow-citizens on the fact that a Clerk to the Court has been appointed for Feilding by the Minister of Justice. We are indebted to the courtesy of R. Ward, Esq., R.M , lor this information, Mr Thompson, a gentleman who has been connected wilh the Court in Wanganui for some time, was offered and has accepted tbe appointment, in which the duties of Clerk ro the Court an J Bailiff will be combined. J tis with considerable satisfaction that we nake this announcements it is almost entirely owing to our persistent representations that the appointment has been made. The gentlemen who visited the Minister in vVellington as a deputation, calling on him to accede to our wishes, are also to be congratulated on the rapid results which have followed their interview with the Minister. Our friends in Palmerston will also be satisfied, as Mr Haultain will now be enabled to devote his entire time and abilities to their service in place of sharing them with Feilding.
